Libyan army and War crimes allegations
Libyan House of Representatives and its Army have the moral obligation to transparently investigate such allegations of war crimes. In wars there is madness, but there are also roles of engagement and accountability. Misconduct and war crimes dangerously compromise the values of a disciplined army and in Libya it severely hinders efforts for reconciliation and nation building.
Now that the war in Benghazi is nearing an end, its citizens will need to ask some very hard questions about peaceful coexistence, reconciliation and the return of refugees. Haftar needs to deal effectively with these reports of war crime allegations and prove that he is running a potentially disciplined army if he expects citizens of Libya and the world to deal with him by any measure of seriousness.
